Why Neglected???

I am a student taking humanities faculty and choosing this is my own desire and passion. Although I had secured nice marks in the SLC exams, I overcame everyone who suggested me to take beyond humanities. I felt unpleasant and became gloomy when I went to different colleges in Biratnagar seeking where Humanities was taught. I also heard many people's opinion that good marks securing or talent students should take science otherwise management. My dear faculty was out of choice. I was convinced by many relatives and seniors many times to choose science or management but I turned a deaf ear to them. Many hurdles I crossed and many people's voice I surpassed when I chose humanities by heart and also by mind. I always think seriously over this matter why this faculty is ignored or neglected by many good students. I have met many students who said that there is no scope or a very few of this faculty. Is it ignored being cheaper than other like cheap items? I put such question with myself and my thoughts whirl like the whirling west wind. I also wonder why there is a rooted feeling of general school students and their parents that being the product of Humanities there will be no adequate buck, fame and standard lifestyle. To those people I oppose firmly since it is the necessary faculty to be studied in the modern scientific age. Conflict is prevalent in almost all nations these periods, war occurs, environmental degradation is haunting, the Earth is getting polluted and warmer day by day, greenhouse effect is being problematic. For all this, humanities teach the way to minimize and solve not science and others that create environment challenging results time and again. Technology has already been developed and this has also made people more inhumane and led human relations weaker. I also do not mean that technological and scientific inventions and development is to be stopped but I mean to say that that is not the only one field.

I have seen some parents who are rich and they want their children to be a doctor, no matter their capacity and intensity in the relevant studies. For them I want to suggest that it is the student who has to succeed his studies and studying without passion and satisfaction will not bring good results in them. Studying should be such practice that provides continuous desire to learn and understand something.

I want to remove the illusion to those who opine that Humanities is boring and dull. The humanities are the stories, the ideas, and the words that help us make sense of our lives and our world. The humanities introduce us to people we have never met, places we have never visited, and ideas that may have never crossed our minds. By showing how others have lived and thought about life, the humanities help us decide what is important in our own lives and what we can do to make them better. By connecting us with other people, they point the way to answers about what is right or wrong, or what is true to our heritage and our history. The humanities help us address the challenges we face together in our families, our communities, and as a nation.
