The term ‘Internet” stands for International Network. It is the largest network system in the world since it is a global network. Merits & Usefulness:

1 All the above features are the advantages if it is used positively. All the information related to the events that occur throughout the world can be found and known through internet. Gone are the days when we used to post our letters and weren’t sure whether it was delivered or not. Now, with the help of internet, we can in no time get the message of delivery and can send letters i.e. Electronic mails.

2 In previous ages, we had to sit together, i.e. conduct mass meetings to do discussion for any subject but now we can do online chatting and get our questions answered soon without being in mass. Our precious time is much saved and with less time we can gain a lot and enlighten our range of knowledge.

3 Down the ages, we had to reach departmental stores and search in all rooms to get our desired items purchased but now we can choose our items browsing internet and buy it promptly through online shopping.

4 Internet is the cheapest and fastest means of communication so we can get connected with anyone we like.

Demerits and Drawbacks:

We all know about its useful nesses but there are also many disadvantages and drawbacks which are still to be known to us.

1 Immature persons and adolescents are completely ruined and their study is hampered and they may get their health hazarded through misuse of internet( i.e. Porno movies, locally to say: Blue films)
2 We know that internet is way of passing time, gaining knowledge, entertaining but it makes us lazy and isolated. We don’t like for verbal communication face to face. We don’t go in mass meetings and meet our relatives and friends but we don’t hesitate to send websms and chat which lacks feelings of kinship and brotherhood.
3 Different internet hackers take advantages of our sincerity because they may lure us telling lies and can know the inner secrets and rob our money through grabbing personal passwords and secrets. They may also fool us telling that we are the lucky winners of any international lottery programmes. We should put a deaf ear towards it and be alert!
4 Our money may be completely finished if we use internet without any aim or goal. Unnecessarily done online chats and other miscellaneous searches makes us completely broke. So we should be alert and use only few of our income which will be very beneficial to us.
