Health is unarguably the important aspect and infrastructure of development. Life Expectancy Rate and health services are the indicators of the nation’s development. A crucial and serious question stands. Are we Nepalese getting satisfactory health treatment by our fellow doctors? Most of us will say “No” with utmost hesitation and discomfort. But the reality is shameful that our doctors are being irresponsible, careless on treatment. There are some examples of it.
When the same patient takes an x ray or MRI or blood report to many doctors and hospitals, the conclusion differs totally. Is scientific research subjective or objective? This puzzles and traumatizes the patients on whom to trust. Apart from doctors, the lab assistants and pathologists seem to be doing pranks with the health of people. Health is an important aspect and its poor condition can be irreparable loss to the individual, his/her family and society.
I also read the same justification in many books such as “Pandulipi” and “Aamako Mutu”. Both the books have disclosed the carelessness and negligence of doctors and their treatment. There is a sorrow that many students of medicine are treating the patients in various teaching hospitals. However many sorrows have been added due to the irresponsible treatments by the serious doctors themselves. General people have much faith, hope and belief towards doctors which I feel nowadays is weakening and degrading.
Doctors, please be responsible, faithful and sincere in your task as your profession itself speaks and shows the same. Doctors themselves have the ability to become godly in nature. I urge the medical students that if you’re not interested or have eagerness to serve people from heart then it’s worth to quit becoming a doctor. The donation system has also hindered the reputation and social recognition these days as anyone who is rich can study medicine.
I am a patient of backache. I went to many doctors to know the real cause and treatment ways. What surprised me was their advices and conclusion they derived from the same reprts. The first doctor said that my nerves of vertebral column were not in proper place and its operation is its treatment. Then I consulted another renowned neuro surgeon who observing the MRI report concluded that it’s rather related to bones and I needed to visit an ortho surgeon. When I met ortho surgeon, he with full confidence said its arthritis of vertebra and it can’t be cured totally and I need to visit arthritis specialist. I am whirling here and there to many doctors carrying my disease uncured and unknown.
My question to doctors is don’t they study about bones while they read neurology and nerves while reading orthopaedics. I wonder about the minute specialization they have taken. Doctors in capital city behave as if they are from USA and Europe whereas the doctors in rural areas seem as if they are not the doctors. Why such a big gap? Don’t people like me get proper treatment or should we go on moving to each and every doctors spending on breath taking charges of unnecessary medical tests?
